A veteran of such emsebles as the Tree Frogs, Funk Shui and of course the John Henry Band, singer songwriter John Henry Bourke has played at the Laurelthirst since 1989. Returning for his annual birthday bash, he has assembled an all star cast featuring Kate O’Brien of the Portland Family Band on vocals and violin, John Morrow (Rubberneck) on saxophone, Gavi Detarr on trumpet, as well as Ben Haynor from Hammerhead on guitar. Fellow Tree Frogs Jeff Duffy on drums, Jeff Haigerty on harp and keys, Sean the Shag Nowland on bass, will join in to play songs from John Henry’s 13 recordings and 2 film scores, including new songs from the upcoming release produced by Jon Neufeld, Apple Tree. As always, there will be cake.
