Hailed as one of Cuba’s hottest emerging artists, Hector was born to be a musician. His father was an accomplished, self-taught singer and guitarist with many musician friends. However, Hector found his own way. Taking his father’s figure-out-yourself ethos, he paved his path through poring over scratchy bootlegged cassettes and CDs. Hector ventured on a passionate and self-curated music journey and discovered a love of blues and classic rock n’ roll. His cornerstone influences coalesced into Stevie Ray Vaughan, Muddy Waters, the Beatles, Jeff Buckley, and Leonard Cohen. At first, Hector set out to be a gunslinger guitar player, practicing non-stop, but soon he discovered his richly expressive voice, and his empathic gifts as a songwriter.

Hector honed his performance chops belting out a wide array of rock, pop, and funk favorites two hours a night and Havana’s most prestigious rock clubs. There, he would mesmerize locals and tourists, and he often got offers from enthusiastic fans to come over to the U.S. Many of these were dead ends, but one was for real. Manager/tastemaker Betty Malo had already brought over Sweet Lizzy Project featuring Cuba’s most well-known producer/guitarist, Miguel Comas. When she extended an invitation to come stateside, Hector accepted, spurred on by the notion that Betty helped bring Miguel to Nashville.

Today, Hector writes and records in Spanish and English while living in Nashville, collaborating with an eclectic array of writers, producers, and musicians. Through his tireless work ethic, and his open-hearted creativity, he’s amassed a well-rounded body of work showcasing his expansive musical talents. From this collection of songs, he has weaved together a cohesive album which he’s raring to share with North American audiences and beyond on upcoming tours.
