Retro Blakesberg – The Film Archives: Volume One. BOOK RELEASE CELEBRATION

Legendary photographer Jay Blakesberg, widely known for his extensive work with the Grateful Dead, is in town showcasing a brand new photography book. The event will feature a slideshow, meet & greet, and book signing, with live music to follow featuring Kellen Asebroek & Friends.

“Retro Blakesberg – The Film Archives: Volume One” is a career-spanning retrospect of Jay’s film photography, from his early days as a hitchhiking deadhead, to his work capturing studio portraits, album art and magazine covers for some of the biggest pop stars in history.

Meticulously curated by daughter Ricki Blakesberg, what started as a pandemic-era archival deep dive project has turned into a highly successful social media account (@retroblakesberg on IG) and now a beautiful 300+ page hardcover coffee table book. 

Jay will be with us at the Laurelthirst showing his infamous slideshow, followed by a book signing and meet & greet. Live music to follow featuring a host of Laurelthirst regulars (Kellen Asebroek, Lewi Longmire, Dave Dernovsek, and Ned Folkerth) performing songs written by the star-studded roster of musicians found in the Retro Blakesberg book.
