Mars FM began as a midnight to 3 am radio show on KDUR, a college radio station located in Durango, Colorado.
In a state of delirium, radio hosts Zack and Zoe decided to form a band.
Now based in Portland, OR, Mars FM is a psychedelic, folk rock trio comprised of Zack Bauer [vocals, guitar, pedal steel], Zoe Larsen [vocals, bass, harmonium] and Eli Wheeler [drums].
Their sound can be personified as a cowboy wearing a Pixies t-shirt riding a tie-dye horse.
Mars FM’s debut album, The Sky Knelt to the Sea, draws from years spent exploring and connecting with open deserts, old growth forests and the sea. Think warm, spring reverb guitar, honey dipped harmonies, and cosmic overdrive that feels down to Earth, yet bumps knuckles with the vast unknown.
