The Prairie Benders-
Bending the lines between bluegrass, country, folk, and rock, The Prairie Benders contemporary sound is distinctively original. Their unique musical signature showcases the fiddle as the lead solo instrument, taking on a voice of its own as a melodic storyteller. With catchy melodies, sharp songwriting, and lyrics steeped in psychedelic escapism, The Prairie Benders’ music feels genuinely cathartic and is as healing as it is infectious.
The Prairie Benders is the vision of Portland, Oregon, musician Jason Ferris. After three decades of writing and performing music, he has returned to his songwriting roots with an acoustic guitar in hand. Drawing inspiration from the soundtrack of his latchkey childhood on a Michigan farm, this project is a nod to Ferris’s earliest musical influences. As a Gen X kid from a turbulent home- born among the last generation to remember what life was like before the internet, Jason weaves a unique perspective into the project. Rooted in lived experiences spanning the pre-internet and post-pandemic ages, Jason’s songs navigate the terrain of life’s accumulated trauma with a vulnerability and beauty that somehow leave you feeling better about it all.

Nick Gamer-
Portland, Oregon-based songwriter, Nick Gamer, is known for dark, cinematic, Americana ballads which draw inspiration from the varied geography of the Pacific Northwest. The influence of Lucinda Williams and The Byrds’ Sweetheart of the Rodeo, manifests in poetic lyrics that offer emotional complexity as varied as the region’s rugged beauty and as potent as nostalgia that forces a head-on reckoning with the past.

Formerly a guitarist for Japanese Breakfast, Gamer got his start crafting indie pop hooks, but always knew that he wanted to make music that swelled. It’s no surprise that he moved toward the high lonesome wail of the pedal steel with his first solo album, the aptly titled Suburban Cowboy.

Gamer’s second solo effort, Oregoner, is a vivid landscape where dimly lit roadside taverns, honky tonk angels, and ceaseless rainfall loom large. While this album is firmly rooted in the present, it nods to the timeless influences of Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris, blending contemporary themes with enduring sounds.
