In a style that conjures Neil Young to John Prine to Gillian Welch, The Prairie Benders deliver compelling lyrics steeped in psychedelic escapism, catchy melodies and sharp songwriting. Their unique musical signature showcases the fiddle as the main lead solo instrument, setting them apart from the standard electric guitar-centric approach. Featuring vocal harmonies, fiddle, acoustic guitar, upright bass and drums, The Prairie Benders music feels genuinely cathartic and is as healing as it is infectious.

The Quick & Easy Boys are a power-trio out of Portland, Oregon who creates their own blend of rock and roll. Imagine the Minutemen, the Police, and Band of Gypsy’s rolled into one.
Formed in 2005, The Quick & Easy Boys quickly made a name for themselves in Eugene, Oregon before relocating to Portland and becoming a renown nationally touring act. Their shows are an interactive party with electrifying stage antics and profound musical moments as the trio pours out every ounce of their energy, leaving nothing behind. The band has gained the reputation for moving a crowd all-night long whether it be a big festival or a tiny watering hole. Founding members Sean Badders on vocals and bass & Jimmy Russell on vocals and guitar play all the notes. Tyrone Hendrix joined in 2018 on percussion. The Quick & Easy Boys have continued to evolve musically…and audiences continue their enthusiastic calling of “Yeah Bud!” at every show.

In their debut album, A Town Called Home spars with the unknowns that come with leaps of faith and felt consequences of decisions, both good and bad. Musical and marital “duo” Chris “Howdy” and Marilyn Darrell weave close heartfelt harmonies, driving rhythm, and solid picking into their original Americana songs.
A Town Called Home’s shows offer pensive lyrics, with plaintive melodies, and then accelerate to hard-driving rhythms that get folks up and dancing. Their tunes bring together old-time country, bluegrass, South Texas, and folk to explore the transient nature of “now”. They embody the never-ending quest to make a home while reckoning with change and chaos, and longing for the seeming-stability of the past. Whether as a duo or full band, when they deliver their songs they bring a warmth and realness that is relatable and familiar, instantly making everyone feel — well, at home.

SPECIAL THURSDAY EDITION!
Expanding on their love of American R&B, The Resolectrics are a rock & soul power trio exploring the vast landscapes of roots music with layered harmonies, multi-tonal guitar tracks, and ambitious arrangements. Since releasing their “Booker T. meets The Band” debut record, High Water, guitarist Tate Peterson, drummer John Becher, and bassist Bob Dunham have honed a leaner, meaner approach through continuous gigging and constant refinement. The band’s latest record, Open Seas, adds some timeless, British Invasion-style psychedelia to the mix along with a touch of horns and harmonica that help reconnect the music to its soul-based heritage.

https://fieldress.bandcamp.com/album/its-a-lot
Founded in 2018 by Sasha Reynolds and Zach Farhney, Fieldress began as a two-piece, with both musicians intertwining delicate yet expressive guitar lines to create rich, textured soundscapes. Over time, the project evolved into a full-band exploration of sound, now featuring Sasha Reynolds (lead vocals, guitar), Omi Golucino (bass), Marissa Deitz (cello, vocals), Phil Di Leo (guitar, vocals), and Francisco Camacho (drums).
At the heart of Fieldress is Sasha Reynolds—a devoted creator. Her artistry extends beyond music, shaping every aspect of the project with an unmistakable personal touch. That craftsmanship is especially present in the upcoming self-released vinyl edition of It’s a Lot, a testament to the band’s hands-on approach to their art.
Fieldress refuses to be boxed in. Sometimes dreamy, sometimes psychedelic indie pop—sometimes jazz? The Oakland-based project shapeshifts between genres, crafting dynamic, melancholic songs woven with haunting harmonies.

The songs of smilepile have a humorous edge with a melancholic underbelly; spirited folk songs with clever poeticism and John Prine meets Townes Van Zandt kinda songwriting.

On any given Tuesday in Portland you’ll see them playing their weekly “Pagan Tuesday” show – where the band sometimes swells up to 10 members as long-time fans and random passers-by join them on stage to keep the music communal. Expatirated musician Morgan Geer returns fom North Carolina to play a set of his inimitale tunes for us!
Drunken Prayer transcends the bounds of Americana music. Morgan Geer writes songs that could emerge from a highly blissed-out biker bar or a swampy ashram. The newest Drunken Prayer album is 2022’s The Name Of The Ghost Is Home. For the last year Morgan Geer has been working from his home studio with Paul Oldham (Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Royal Trux), building on tracks initially recorded in New Mexico at Empty House Studios, home of doom metal bands like OM and Sleep. The end result evokes an ominous acid Western feedback-and-driftwood aesthetic.

With what PopMatters describes as “tenacious swagger,” critically-acclaimed solo artist Ashleigh Flynn recently dialed up the volume and debuted an all-female rock band as a nod to the “Rosie the Riveter” archetype from WWII.
Flynn grew up in Kentucky and cut her teeth on local bluegrass music and Motown. A prolific songwriter and performer blessed with unbridled charisma, she arrived on the Americana scene in 2008 with the release of her third LP, American Dream, a poetic lament to the elusiveness of that national ethos. A Million Stars followed in 2013 – a rollicking journey celebrating the women pioneers of the American West.
Ashleigh Flynn & The Riveters’ inaugural LP hit the streets in 2018 featuring a sound that hearkens back to early Stones, ‘70s psychedelic country rock, and alternately charms like a Sunday afternoon front porch session…

AFTER A TERRIBLE HEALTH INCIDENT, JOSH IS BACK!
https://www.joshcolemusic.com
Josh Cole has been playing bluegrass in the Pacific Northwest for over 25 years. It started in the late 90s, when he first heard “Midnight Moonlight” from Old and In the Way. That moment forever bonded Josh to bluegrass music.
He went on to serve as President of the Oregon Bluegrass Association and continues to host “Music From the True Vine” on KBOO-FM, the longest running bluegrass show West of the Mississippi.
Josh’s influences include Ralph Stanley, Larry Sparks, and Bill Monroe, many of whom are featured on the Josh Cole Bluegrass Show, his podcast with nearly 200 episodes of traditional bluegrass recordings.
Josh has played in dozens of bands, along with running his own hard-driving bluegrass band for nearly two decades. That’s why hometown fans have lovingly nicknamed him “The Elvis of Portland Bluegrass.”

Kris Deelane is making a loud noise in the Portland Rock scene. With her nine piece soul band The Hurt, Kris is amping up her performances in and around Portland and the Pacific Northwest. A true road warrior with years of solid touring experience, Kris is keeping it local and in the moment with shows all over town. From The Alberta Rose Theatre to The Doug Fir, McMenamin’s Edgefield to Al’s Den at the Crystal and a standing residency at Laurelthirst Public House, she and the band are everywhere. Summer 2015, Kris Deelane and The Hurt performed at Oregon Country Fair, What The Festival, and Dixie Festival, and also opened for 3 Dog Night, and Martha Davis and the Motels.
The Hurt is ten players strong and features a number of Portland music luminaries including Ned Failing (Mexican Gun Fight/Floydian Slips) on drums, Steve Kerin on keys (Too Loose Cajun Band, Atomic Gumbo, Rose City Kings and winner of the Cascade Blues Association’s “Keyboardist of the Year”), Greg Hyatt on bass (Five Easy Pieces, Zoo People, Berthaline, and Lapdog, featuring members of Toad The Wet Sprocket), Heidi Shuler (Merl Saunders) on percussion and Alan Toribio (Mexican Gunfight) on guitar. With her backing singers, The Lady Parts, and horn section, Kris is dipping into deep cuts and old school favorites from the soul sounds of the 60’s and 70’s. Think Motown to Memphis, Stax to Atlantic records, Aretha to Etta. It’s all here!

The “Forty Drop Few” are a trio originally from the southwest that play popular music of the early 1900s. They perform in various styles from the era as a string band and are influenced by nothing other than the old 78 records that they love so well. Their main influences include New Orleans jazz, southwestern fiddle music, classic banjo rags, black string band music, hillbilly harmonies and unique vocals. The trio consists of Ethan and Candra Francis and Elliot Kennedy who all currently reside in Portland Oregon. The couple, also known as “Stone and Sue” have been playing music together for close to a decade and met Kennedy who joined them 4 years ago. The three are inseparable and spend all of their time picking apart old tunes, listening to 78s, throwing shows in Portland and traveling around the country together.

KRISTEN GRAINGER & TRUE NORTH is a bluegrass-leaning Americana powerhouse of terrific songwriting, lush vocals and crazy-good instrumentalists.
Fronted by singer-songwriter Kristen Grainger, the band is comprised of multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Dan Wetzel and Pacific Northwest bluegrass superstars Martin Stevens (mandolin, octave mandolin, fiddle, vocals) and Josh Adkins (upright bass, vocals), both formerly of the Bluegrass Regulators.
Kristen is making a name for herself as a crafter of great songs, taking first place in the 2020 USA Songwriting Competition (folk), and landing a 2022 songwriter showcase at SXSW. She was named, along with Brandi Carlile and Dolly Parton, one of the “Women Who Wrote Our 2020 Soundtrack” by The Bluegrass Situation.
“True North plays tunes so smooth they bring to mind bluegrass-pop artists like Alison Krauss and Union Station, as well as old country legends like Hank Williams.”
The Rosa Lees hail from the hills of sunny Southern Oregon and trace a distinct line between their music and the vision of female bluegrass pioneers such as Hazel Dickens, Alice Gerrard, Rose Maddox, and beyond.
At the forefront of their music lies an emphasis on closely blended harmonies, hard-charging rhythms, and lyrically potent songs. Their repertoire mingles elements of traditional bluegrass with traces of old-time fiddle and banjo tunes, classic country, old-world Celtic music, and gospel. They prioritize songs with meaning and a strong turn of phrase, working to fuse all these ingredients into the original songs that punctuate their sets.
Audiences consistently rave about the distinct blend of their vocal harmonies and instrumental acuity, not to mention their playful on-stage demeanor. The Rosa Lees are Rachel Buklad on banjo, Jessie Monter on fiddle, Holly Hurley on bass, and Bekkah McAlvage on guitar.

A true road warrior with years of solid touring experience, Kris is keeping it local and in the moment with shows all over town. An evening with Arkansas’ native son, the tops of Little Rock bottom!
https://dylanearl.com/home
Naturalized by the natural state, Arkansas-based Dylan Earl seeks to understand himself by understanding others and where he makes his home. Offering poignant nostalgia, history, and a refreshingly progressive approach to country and western music, his newest effort is rife with wry wit, delicate irreverence, and an endearing desire to colour outside the lines.
